The Right Diet For You
The word "diet" is often perceived to mean depravation when truly everyone has a diet. In fact the more important tenent of a good diet is not deprevation but rather complete fulfillment of your body's needs for a variety of protein, carbohydrates, fats, nutrients, vitamins and minerals. The first and potentially most important role in determining what diet is right for you begins by replacing the word "diet" with "practice". In following an eating practice, and dissassociate the word diet with depravation, hardship, difficulty, etc. Every Body is different, which means that results from the eating practice you pursue will be different from everybody else. It requires a committment to a certain degree of exploration and experimentation. While there are numerable well established and ell proven eating practices that can result in you finding the right balance for your individual body, most will require fine tuning for optimum results, some will be completely ineffective for you, while others will lead to temporary results that then require modification to sustain. The list below is not exhaustive and does not include every eating practice available. Fitness Formulary does not endorse, sanction or rate any eating practice. Only a licensed physician (MD), registered dietetian nutritionist (RDN) or dietetic technician (DTR) can provide specific recommendations for you. The purpose of this article is to arm the reader with knowledge to help you make your own assessment of the eating practices available to you and then seek medical advice prior to pusuing such practices. |
